Terms of service.

The deal between you and Thumbnail Bench. Short sections, plain words, no surprises.

Effective 8 September 2026Applies to thumbnailbench.com and the bench app

By creating an account or using Thumbnail Bench you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you use the bench for a company, you agree on its behalf.

Your account

  • You must be 13 or older to use the free plan and 18 or older to buy a paid plan.
  • We sign you in with a link sent to your email. Keep those links and your inbox to yourself. What happens on your account is your responsibility until you tell us it was compromised.
  • One person, one account. Team seats are on the roadmap.

Credits and billing

One credit is one generated image. Credits are not money, cannot be transferred, and have no cash value. Plan credits arrive each billing period and roll over for one extra period, up to twice the monthly amount. Plan credits end when the subscription ends. Top-up credits last 12 months and are used after plan credits. A render that fails is never charged: the credits go back automatically. Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are shown before tax; tax is added at checkout where it applies.

  • Credits are the unit. Each render, edit or expression costs the number of credits shown next to the button before you press it.
  • Plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account page. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
  • Roll-over. Unused plan credits roll over while your subscription is active, up to the cap shown on the pricing page. They expire when the subscription ends.
  • Top-up credits last 12 months from purchase.
  • Refunds. Credits already spent on renders are not refundable, because the render cost us money the moment it ran. If a render fails, the credits come back on their own. If we charged you by mistake, tell us within 30 days and we will fix it.
  • Price changes apply from your next renewal and we email you at least 14 days before.

Acceptable use

The full rules live in the acceptable use policy, which is part of these terms. In short: only faces you have the right to use, no minors, no public figures without consent, nothing sexual, hateful or illegal, one person per account, no bots.

The bench makes pictures of people, so this part matters. You agree not to:

  • Upload a photo of a person without their permission, or of anyone under 18 other than your own child.
  • Make a thumbnail that presents a real person saying or doing something they did not, in a way a viewer would take as real.
  • Make sexual, hateful, violent or illegal content, or content that breaks YouTube's rules.
  • Reverse-engineer the service, scrape it, resell access, or run automated jobs against it.

Real people. A face you upload must be yours or belong to someone who gave you permission. No public figures without consent, no minors, nothing sexual, hateful or deceptive. The full rules are in the acceptable use policy, which is part of these terms.

We can remove content and close accounts that break these rules. Credits on a closed account are not refunded.

Your content and outputs

Images are generated by AI models run by third-party providers. Outputs can be wrong, odd, or similar to outputs made for other people from similar prompts. We do not promise that any output is unique, accurate, or free of third-party rights. You are responsible for checking an output before you publish it.

  • You own what you upload. You give us the licence we need to store it, process it and show it back to you.
  • You own the thumbnails we generate for you, to the extent the law lets anyone own AI output, and you can use them anywhere, including commercially.
  • Similar outputs. Other people may get similar images from similar prompts. We cannot give you exclusivity over a look.
  • Your library is private. We do not show your thumbnails to other users. The samples on our Explore page were made by us.

Connecting a YouTube channel

Connecting a channel is optional. Connect only channels you own or manage with the owner's permission. Publishing a thumbnail from the bench replaces the video's current thumbnail on YouTube; you confirm each one, and you are responsible for what you publish. The bench uses YouTube API Services, so by connecting you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service; the Google Privacy Policy covers Google's side. What we read, store and delete is set out in the Privacy Policy. Disconnect at any time on your Account page.

The service

We work hard to keep the bench up, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. AI output is unpredictable: a render can miss the brief, and a good-looking cover is not a guarantee of clicks. Only YouTube decides what your real click-through rate is.

We may change or retire features. If we retire something you paid for, we will tell you and refund the unused part of your plan if you ask.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Thumbnail Bench is provided "as is". We are not liable for lost revenue, lost views, or indirect damages. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from the account page. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after notice where the law requires it. Sections on ownership, liability and governing law survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, and disputes go to the courts there, unless the consumer law where you live gives you a right to something else.
